Topic Summary-The racial topic I chose
is The Holocaust. The word “holocaust” comes from
the Greek words "holos"(whole) and "kaustos" (burned).
This word was historically used to describe a sacrificial offering that was to be burned on an altar. Today the word is most commonly spelled with an
uppercase “H” and is used to define the genocide against European Jews during
World War II. The holocaust began in 1933 and ended in 1945. During this twelve
year period The German Nazi regime was responsible for the murder of six million Jews.
The Holocaust was led by the most powerful man in Europe, Adolf Hitler. For
years Jews were consistently persecuted leading up to Hitler’s “final
solution.” Hitler’s “final solution” was to exterminate all European Jews.
